singing beach - manchester by the sea - mbta rockport line

Waiting patiently for a track number, you may spot other potential beachgoers with their gear and wear not usual for a transit hub.

Riding up is less than an hour and offers pleasant views as you head east and then up the coast line. Marshes, harbor, bridges may catch your eye.

Arrive for a brief stroll or an even quicker bike ride if you can manage. “Beach rd” tips off the route, but you can also follow the beach chairs, or the helpful signage I suppose.

Ten beans for walkers, more for parking. This always brings me to the “beaches should be free and nobody owns the ocean” rant, but clean facilities and well maintained landscape is worth noting. A snack shack with frozen and hot treats is convenient, but what is better than chips and a sandwich made with love seaside? Pair with local suds or a lemonade? Whatever feels right :)

Trees line the coast out to cliffs that make of the corners of the cove. Water and sand is crisp and clean, and two healthy striped bass swam in front of me. A sign of healthy waters. Plenty of space to spread out on the beach and benches towards the tree canopy offer views from above to beyond.

Swim strokes fully underwater feel invigorating, and our bike cruise back included a short, steep hill that brought a smile to my face.

4p train home was delayed 10 mins. No problem! I bought a potholder from two cute and charming young brothers who made them on looms and seemed to have some well deserved success.

Good tired on the train home. Less than an hour on the tracks, cruise on two wheels home, shower, and a pasta dinner quick n easy.

Hard to beat, no sangria in the park, but what did the other guy say about toes in the sand?
